Toxic Cherry
Originally a PhD level medicinal chemist, Toxic Cherry undertook a major career change just over 6 years ago, when she switched her tired old lab coat for skyscraper heels and shiny booty shorts. While completing her postgraduate studies, Cherry toured with a north-east based burlesque troupe and that was precisely where her dance adventure began. Upon leaving university at the end of 2011, she set up Cherry Dance Academy, in Newcastle city centre, and has never looked back.
Cherry has held a weekend cabaret performance residency at north-east number one nightclub, House of Smith, since 2012 but she also travels far and wide to entertain and teach. In 2015 she won the UK Authentic Professional Pole Dance Championships and subsequently the Dance Filthy UK Professional title. In 2016 she went on to win the Classique category of the UK P4F Championships. In both 2016 and 2017 she was a Classique division finalist at Pole Theatre UK.
Forever a scientist yes but truly a dancer with exotic roots at heart, she says: “Dance feeds my soul like nothing else and it’s just as well as I doubt science would suit my passion for huge Pleaser shoes and tiny pants right now”
