COVID-19 AND RE-OPENING LUCYPOLE
GENERAL INFORMATION DOCUMENT
Please read through this document carefully, and remember that you can ask me anything at all, at any time.
I know all of these rules seem quite extreme and might make things feel very strange and different when you are back in the studio, but please understand that this is standard protocol now for anywhere offering any kind of dance or fitness class, and we hope that this level of care and detail will be relaxed at some point moving forwards. For now, we must abide by this legislation as closely as possible to avoid as much risk as possible, and don’t worry, I will make this as stress-free as possible for you guys.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN I COME BACK TO MY FIRST CLASS?
You will be required to complete a new Informed Consent form before you return to class. This will be sent to you all via email. Please sign electronically as soon as you can. You will NOT be allowed to take part in your pre-arranged class unless this form is signed.
No-one will be permitted in the studio UNLESS you are there for a pre-arranged class. You will be asked to remain in your vehicles until the time of your class, or outside the studio at a SAFE social distance from any other students, and to bring only the things that you absolutely need into the studio, at the exact start time of your pre-arranged class.
I would please recommend that you use the bathroom BEFORE you leave your home. The Ladies’ toilet on the Estate will be accessible, but I have no control over the cleaning and sanitising of this area. If you do need to use the Ladies whilst you are at your class, please let me know and I will sanitise it before and after you use it.
Please try to be mindful of what you TOUCH when you are inside the studio (lol). The less you touch, the less risk there is for you, me and all the other students.
As you enter the studio, please sanitise your hands (pump will be on the small table to the right of the door). Please LEAVE the sanitiser on the table and use the dispenser just from the top.
Place your belongings inside one of the taped squares on the floor.
If you need a yoga mat, please take one from the top of the pile.
Head directly to your pole, and set up your mat for warmup.
During the class, I will direct you with regards to the safest way to carry out the movements/tasks we are working on. Please just try to be sensible and retain your minimum 2m social distance wherever and whenever possible.
Please remain at your pole unless otherwise directed (or in the case of any emergency, of course).
When class has finished, please leave your mat where it is. I will be cleaning all poles between classes, so you don’t need to clean your own at the end of the class.
Maintaining social distancing, please collect your belongings and head to the door.
Please sanitise your hands a final time before leaving the studio (try to avoid touching the door handle unless necessary etc.).
Please exit the studio with care. I am not going to be able to socialist, chat, or hear you at this time - I have a very limited amount of time to get the studio cleaned and no-one will be permitted in the studio area whilst I clean. I’m sorry (sad emoji).
Any questions you have, or things you need to tell me, please email me either before or after class, whichever is the most appropriate (or when you remember!).
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE STUDIO AND RE-OPENING
New Class Formats
Group classes will be a maximum of 3:1.
All classes will be maximum 45 minutes duration.
Private lessons will remain at one hour for now. It is likely that the price of private tuition will increase in September as I cannot maintain private lessons at such a low price for more than 4 weeks.
All classes will be ‘spotting free’ and you will be advised on your ‘allowed’ moves during class. This will be dependant on many factors and I’m afraid my word will be final. Although I’m sure no-one will argue with Mumma …
A maximum of 4 people will be in the studio at any one time (this includes me). With me remaining in reception most of the time, this allows for the 100sq ft per person guideline for gyms (which I think is smart for us too for now). This also means we will be working one to a pole to reduce the risk of spread - get ready to feel those muscles burn!
Cleaning
The studio is undergoing a full, professional Covid clean prior to reopening, on 30th July. This is being done by a local and very reputable company.
Any and all cleaning fluids will contain one of the following and I will have taken advice before purchase:
- 62 - 71% alcohol
- 0.5% hydrogen peroxide (bleach)
- 0.1% sodium hypochlorite
It has been proven that the virus can be inactivated within one minute when cleaned with these products.
I will be keeping a written record of cleaning. ALL surfaces in the studio will be cleaned prior to classes. Poles, floor and touchable surfaces (door handles) will be cleaned again in the 15 minute changeover between classes. You will not be permitted to enter the studio until the cleaning is complete.
Regular maintenance cleaning before, between and after classes will be done by first removing dirt, grime and grease, and then disinfecting. This will include the pole mats.
I will be providing a cloth/blue paper and hand sanitiser to each student for the duration of their class. The cloth will be washed/disposed of after each use and not used by more than one student before washing.
During the class, I will be the only person to ‘formally’ clean the poles with any fluids. You can wipe with the cloth given to you at the start of class but please don’t use sanitiser on the poles, we have a special cleaning fluid for that and I can clean them any time during class for you.
When you are at the Studio
Studio signage
There will be signage around the studio to remind you of all the important things:
- retaining social distancing
- sanitising hands, poles and equipment
- stepping back from the pole between exercises to enhance social distance
Social Distancing
You will be expected to retain a MINIMUM distance of 2m mouth to mouth with any other person in the studio with you. I appreciate this won’t be easy, but as long as you aim to avoid FACING the pole nearest you when you are working on it, we should be fine.
You can help by stepping back from your pole towards the corner between moves/sequences/demos and taking it in turns with the person next to you to use the pole.
No-one will be permitted in the studio UNLESS you are there for a class. You will be asked to remain in your vehicles until the time of your class, and to bring only the things that you absolutely need into the studio.
The door will remain open whilst the weather allows, and following guidance, we will also be able to use the air conditioning. This will assist with the flow of air throughout the building.
As group classes will have a maximum of 3 students entering or leaving the studio at any time, I will not be enforcing a one way system.
It is preferred if you can bring your own yoga mat to class. Please don’t worry if you don’t have one, it will just help us to reduce spread.
Our bin is closed and adequate for the disposal of any cleaning waste during the evening of classes. I will then remove this at the end of class.
Hand sanitiser will be available for use by all in the studio. I will be frequently sanitising my hands during classes.
Classes will be planned specifically to try and avoid any risk by the absence of spotting. Don’t worry, there will still be plenty for you to learn and work on!
In the highly unlikely event of an outbreak, there is a full LucyPole Outbreak Policy available for you to read on our website.
If you or anyone in your social bubble feels unwell at ANY time, please contact me immediately. It may be that you have to self isolate for a further 14 days but we can discuss that as and when it (hopefully doesn’t) happen!
