FAQ's
How much are your classes?
We run our classes on a membership basis, so that our students get to stay in the same class, with the same people, through the majority of your pole journey. Membership is £40 per calendar month, for a one hour class per week. A month’s notice is required if you wish to leave us (which we hope you never will!!!)
I’m not skinny. Will I still be able to lift my body weight?
Absolutely yes. Pole is for EVERY kind of body, and we’re experienced with working with all of those bodies. You learn as you go along, and part of your training will be strength, conditioning and flexibility.
I’m not fit at all. Is Pole still okay for me?
Yes. Pole is perfect for you. Your fitness, strength and flexibility will grow as you attend classes, and the more consistent and regularly you can come to class, the quicker it will happen.
Where is your studio?
Our address is Unit 29, Crawley Mill Industrial Estate, Dry Lane, Crawley, Witney, OXFORDSHIRE. We have full instructions on how to find the studio at www.lucypole.com/contact.
Is there parking?
There is ample free parking on the Trading Estate. Please do make sure you avoid leaving your car in front of any of the other businesses.
Can I get a bus to the Studio?
Sadly, there isn’t a reliable public transport service that comes past the Trading Estate.
What should I wear?
For at least the first few months, you can wear absolutely whatever you want. We recommend that you choose clothing that YOU feel 100% comfortable in. There is no need to wear a bikini, or be near-naked (that’s for later on, when you are doing more advanced movements and need your skin to grip the pole) – we want you to be able to fully focus on the class and not on how you feel in your clothes, so whatever works for you, works for us. Further along, we will ask you to bring or wear shorts, as you will need the skin on your thighs to help you grip in some of the movements.
What do I need to bring with me?
Most importantly, we need you to bring an open heart and mind, and some determination. Other than that, a cold drink in a non-spill bottle and a hand cloth or towel is useful, but not necessary.
Can I bring my friend with me?
If we have room in the class we have allocated you to for your Taster Session, we would absolutely LOVE to meet your friend too. If we don’t have space in that particular class, we will try to offer you other options so that your friend can be accommodated.
Will the class I do my Taster in be the class I join?
Yes, we try to do this as often as possible so that you don’t have to meet new groups of people over and over again.
When will I need to make my first payment?
A payment will be due from you between your Taster Session date, and the date of your first weekly class. If you do your Taster at the end of a month, a full month of £40 will be due, otherwise, we pro-rata the £40 over the days remaining in the month.
Can I pay in cash or with Paypal?
Afraid not. Paying by Standing Order is part of your Contract terms. This is so that payments all get made on the same day and the studio bills can be paid on time!
Can my children sit in reception while I do my lesson?
Our insurance doesn’t allow this, but we do offer a lunchtime class on a Wednesday where you can bring your small people along with you.
I am not able to do the same class each week as I work shifts – can I still sign up?
Please email us at lucy@lucypole.com so that we can discuss this on a case-by-case basis. We try as hard as we can to accommodate as many people as we can so that everyone gets a chance to learn pole.
I’ve got really bad anxiety. Will I be safe at the studio?
First of all, breaaattthheeee. Great job. In answer to your questions, YES YES YES. We are experienced in working with people with anxious thoughts and feelings (and lots of other mental health situations) and we want to reassure you that we know what it feels like to be terrified. We’re here for you, and you’re going to love this new hobby. Promise.
Do you support a variety of genders/body types?
We try our hardest to be inclusive and diverse in as many aspects as we can. We welcome EVERY body and EVERY gender; and we love to learn.
Do I do a different class each week?
No, you’ll usually do your Taster Session in the class slot that we’d like to allocate you to when you join. That way, you get used to the people you will see each week and hopefully feel a little less nervous on Week 2.
What happens if I can’t come to classes anymore?
At such time that you can no longer be a family member at LucyPole, you give us 4 weeks’ notice in writing (email) and make any payments due for those 4 weeks (we can also pro-rata this if necessary).
I’m not flexible at all! I can’t even touch my toes. Can I still try pole?
Flexibility is absolutely not necessary for you to do pole. Yes, if you want to compete or perform or do elite level movement at some stage, flexibility will definitely help, but it’s absolutely NOT necessary to enjoy all the different aspects of Pole Dance.
I can’t even do a press-up – can I still pole?
I am rubbish at press-ups. So yes, yes, yes you can DEFINITELY still pole. We don’t expect you to be strong, fit or flexible when you join. That’s exactly why you’re here with us – to learn!
What if I have existing health conditions?
Our teaching team are the proud owners of chronic and long lasting health conditions, and we have a fair bit of experience with many types of physical and emotional issue. Please speak to us outside of class so that we can understand how we can best support you.
Is there an age limit? Will I be too old?
Ha! You are NEVER too old to do anything that you want. No, there is absolutely no age limit.
Can my 14 year old daughter come with me?
At this time, we don’t take any students under the age of 16. If you think that your under-16 would benefit from Pole for mental health reasons, please contact us separately so that we can discuss.
Can I bring my children to the studio while I do my lesson? They are really well behaved
Our insurance doesn’t allow this, but we do offer a lunchtime class on a Wednesday where you can bring your small people along with you.
What should I expect from the sessions?
We start our lessons with a comprehensive warm up, which will include strength, conditioning and stretch, and get you warmed up and ready to rock and roll on those poles. We then move onto a section called Flow. This is where we learn things that don’t require any specific clothing or equipment, are usually feet on the ground, and can sometimes include transitions, dancing, and moves linked together. The third section of the class is what we call ‘aerial’, where students go upside down and learn the harder moves that require more grip and more assistance. Until you are ready to go upside down, you will be learning sit poses, combinations and doing all your moves on both sides of your body while the others are working on aerial things.
What are the non-physical benefits of doing pole?
Where do we start? Pole is beneficial in so many ways. Here are just a few that we can think of:
* Increased confidence
* Increased self-esteem
* High likelihood that you’ll commit for longer than you have in the past
* Learning about your self, your behaviours and your habits
* Making new friends, creating new relationships
* Finally realising how amazing you are, and being told so regularly by an incredible group of humans
Do other Mums do pole?
Yes definitely! We think that over 50% of our students are Mums, and LucyPole is a great way to share all of those Mum feelings, problems and victories. We also run a class on a Wednesday lunchtime where you can bring your small people so that you don’t have to worry about childcare.
Can I do lessons on my own, not in a group?
Yes, we offer private tuition on various days of the week and love creating closer relationships in a 1:1 context. Although we really recommend group lessons, private tuition can really help either as an alternative OR alongside regular group lessons.
1 hour private tuition with Lucy: £35
1 hour private tuition with Gemma: £20

Ts and Cs
MISSED CLASSES
At LucyPole, we don't want you to miss a thing, and we expect you to get what you pay for.
So, wherever possible, we want you to catch up on missed classes. But, as with everything, for your missed lesson to be authorised as ‘catch up’ there are a few rules, which we've tried to detail below. Please think of your pole membership a bit like gym membership when it comes to changing or missing classes.
1. You must give at least 24 hours’ notice.
2. The reason for missing class must be something that could not be avoided. Authorisation for catch up will not be given if you missed class for things like:
Regular illness (other than major illness or operations - in this case a doctor's note may be requested)
Tattoos
Social events
3. Wherever possible, work, major illness and holidays will be covered, but please treat this class as you would any other - if you think it’s cheeky to ask, then it probably is!! If you are unsure about what is covered and what isn’t and have something coming up, wherever possible please check BEFORE you miss the class and not afterwards.
4. Our decision is final in all cases.
5. Missed classes must be made up (where applicable) within 6 weeks. unless you have received prior written consent otherwise.
6. Missed classes that you are still due to make up cannot be used as part of your notice period.
